Every year in multiple locations, #politicalprisoners and their supporters do a #runningdownthewalls 5K in solidarity. This event raises awareness and funds for political prisoners and prisoners of war through supporting the ABCF Warchest. We must remember that many of those arrested and imprisoned in the past and present are not far from us. Many of them are Black radicals, indigenous activists, community and labor organizers, queer, anti-police, and environmental activists; people who decided to speak out against oppression and paid the price of their freedom.

We must remember that any one of these people could have at one time stood beside us in a demonstration, at a speak-out, or at an organizing meeting. The strength of our movement is determined by how much we support our fallen comrades. As anarchist and former POW Ojore Lutalo put it, “Any movement that does not support its political internees is a sham movement.”

The fight to #stopcopcity is ongoing resistance to construction of military-grade training facilities that would train cops from around the world. A cop city doesn’t just threaten hundreds of acres of Weelaunee forest. It doesn’t only threaten poor and working class communities in Atlanta. It threatens brutality and urban warfare against social movements and communities worldwide. Despite numerous arrests, the spray of fascistic RICO charges, and the murder of #tortuguita, the fight continues because it must NEVER be built. Not in Atlanta. Not anywhere.

The 5K run/walk/roll/cheer today is in solidarity with all those on the ground and behind bars, struggling for self-determination and a future without police terror and ecocide. We are running down the walls with over 300 people including the #phillyabc, #mxgmphilly, forest defenders, prison/police abolitionists, former prisoners, and current prisoners locked inside SCI Mahanoy, SCI Pine Grove, and Vaughn Correctional Center.
