For over 75 years, Palestinians have been forced into a multi-faceted struggle for their lives and relationship to the land. A process of colonization and genocide started with the 1948 Nakba involving the destruction of approximately 600 Palestinian villages.

[Video description: Video opens with a member of Samidoun speaking in the microphone at a rally, saying “We’re always trying to free them, to free all the political prisoners in Palestine and here, to free Mumia Abu-Jamal and to free Ahmad Sa’adat.” Music starts playing while showing short clips of footage from 2024 pro-Palestine protests, followed by hip-hop artist and organizer Blak Rapp Madusa, chanting “What’s the call? Free ’em all” at Running Down The Walls 2020. The next several clips show people running, walking, stretching, doing Yoga, or speaking in the microphone at Running Down The Walls events from 2020 to 2023. There is a short pause in the music where activist Gabe Bryant says “They want to create a new generation of political prisoners, and that’s not going to happen on our watch.” Titles and subtitles display throughout that read “Palestine. Resisting colonialism. Resisting genocide since 1948. Running Down The Walls. Annual 5K for political prisoners. Inside and outside of prisons since 1999. September 15th, 2024. 25 years of Running Down The Walls. Proceeds support political prisoners. Proceeds support mutual aid in Palestine. Register at phillyabc.org/rdtw. Repression of Palestinians hurts more than residents of the West Bank or Gaza. As subMedia recently noted, “like all prisons, Gaza is a laboratory of repression.” Israel & weapons manufacturers rake in billions from selling products of this laboratory to authoritarians.
(2/5)
These models of repression cause formation of relationships and resource distribution to other authoritarians. Take for example, the cross training of the Atlanta police department and the IDF, or the Israeli phone-hacking technology sold to Vladimir Putin.
(3/5)
The U.S. has its own unique model of repression. Police are trained in profiling, to maintain quotas for a profitable industry of mass incarceration. They deny the existence of political prisoners and promote violence of white supremacist prison gangs to threaten dissent.
(4/5)
Your support is crucial for dismantling these models of repression. Join us for this solidarity 5K on Sept 15th, to provide mutual aid to Palestinians and political prisoners. Deadline for registration is soon―don’t miss out!

When it comes to resisting carcerality, the need for solidarity cannot be overstated. Models of repression are what develop the frameworks for rising authoritarianism and fascism we see across the globe.

We are really excited for the release of “I am Maroon,” because we see its trajectory of strategy, political education, and activation. The story of how our
#RunningDownTheWalls
events grew to what they are today, starts with the 2020 event we did for Maroon.(thread 1/8)
Maroon inspired a nearly 200% increase in participation, and 633% increase in funds raised, which would forever change the way we organize this event. The mic was saturated with Philly organizers and former prisoners, sharing stories of how Maroon empowered their lives.
(2/8)
The lasting impact from this particular RDTW continues to inspire us as organizers, and continues to inspire those participating. And this is just one, relatively small mark of his influence. It’s a pencil dot compared what Maroon achieved throughout his lifetime.
(3/8)
His last book titled “Maroon the Implacable” sparked so much interest to readers inside prison, we had to keep mailing them in!😎 It’s the only book that we’ve observed such a repeatable, predictably high demand for more―a chain reaction we’ve seen time and time again.
(4/8)
When speaking of “strategy” as it relates to Maroon, consider that he escaped from prison twice, and his success in outsmarting a massive manhunt―and their search dogs―for 27 days! As impressive as that is, it hardly scratches the art of what’s possible from his strategy.
(5/8)
The impact of Maroon’s life is impossible to measure. No unit of measurement could capture the activation he’s inspired in all of us. Likewise, it’s impossible to measure the impact of his legacy, but we’re watching it unfold and truly excited to see where it takes us!
(6/8)
Join us for the book release event on September 22nd at @OneArtCommunity, which is also the annual Maroon Memorial Prisoners’ Families Brunch!
Follow @RussellMShoatz and linktr.ee/iammaroon to stay tuned for more.

And join us for another #RunningDownTheWalls to which we can thank Maroon for making us capable of raising tens of thousands to provide mutual aid to Palestinians and political prisoners.

I love you all and cannot make it without you all as a whole. For one is never bigger than the whole of everyone. We must acknowledge that. Run down these walls! RUN THEM DOWN TO DUST! It has never been worse inside these prisons. We must run down these walls and free all life. We must reach deep down within and hit the internal switch. The switch of power in our sacred heart realm. We must activate the warrior of fire inside of us all. Things on the inside of federal prisons have gotten much worse in the last year. The system is broke and they nearly starve us much of the time. We are always on the hunt for food. And we are suffering a much higher pattern of violence against prisoners by staff. Things are more serious than ever and I have close to 30 years in federal prisons. This is my second case that’s federal, so I’ve seen the extreme decline in federal prisons. It’s time to really truly rise up and run down all walls forever. It’s time to put in the real and serious work action. Love, Oso Blanco”]

The George Floyd uprising of 2020 is an unforgettable chapter in our lives. It was an unfolding of raw, organic resistance―a healthy response to the unhealthy conditions of state sponsored fascism. We the saw the seemingly impossible become a not so distant future.
(thread 1/6)
We saw acts of resistance by everyday people, in solidarity with every slain, maimed, and brutalized victim of police terror. One of those victims was Iyad Al Halaq, an autistic Palestinian killed by Israeli police the same month as George Floyd.

Where things went south, is that many of those everyday resisters of police terror in the U.S., would then lay down their swords at election time. They voted like wildfire and upheld the same institutional fascism that killed George Floyd, and that killed Iyad Al Halaq.

Excerpts from political prisoner Xinachtli’s 2024 Running Down The Walls statement:
“As a long-time recipient of economic support from the WARCHEST FUND of the ANARCHIST BLACK CROSS FEDERATION (ABCF), let me extend my gratitude for your persistent support and let you know that I have appreciated your consistent support down through many years of struggle, given the circumstances. Texas prison does not compensate prisoners for their slave labor, and, even if it did, I would never participate in contributing prisoner labor to a slavery institution with deep roots in white settler colonialism, white supremacy and the African slave trade … and to a “criminal justice system” that targets people of color for genocidal mass incarceration, and used to repress radical political movement seeking freedom from the chains. … We thank ABCF for being true to its principles, and for supporting the “prison movement” and those of us imprisoned as a result of our direct actions in fighting back.”

“We encourage ABCF to continue to lead the way, support its political prisoners, as well as all oppressed and colonized nations domestically and around the world, as the noble and generous work done in collecting monies to support the Palestinian masses in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip” says long-term political prisoner and Warchest recipient, Xinachtli, in his 2024 Running Down The Walls solidarity statement.

We were honored to host former Angola 3 political prisoner―Albert Woodfox. He traveled all the way from New Orleans to join us in person at the 2021 event. He joined the ancestors a month before the next event, but the momentum of RDTW continues in his honor. #RestInPower

We were honored to host former Angola 3 political prisoner―Albert Woodfox―after serving 43 years in solitary confinement, longer than any prisoner in US history. Lest we forget, Running Down The Walls wouldn’t be what it is today without former prisoner of war, Ojore Lutalo. He was a co-founder of ABCF, and is the person who initiated the Warchest program in 1994. The name “Warchest” comes from him. 🏴

[Video description: Short video reminder to register for Running Down The Walls. The video opens with a photo of three former political prisoners, Albert Woodfox, Ojore Lutalo, and Kazi Toure, from the 2021 event or Mumia Abu-Jamal. Large attention grabbing text appears over the photo that reads “Register today! Running Down The Walls.” The large text fades away, and is replaced by smaller text that reads “Albert Woodfox, Ojore Lutalo, and Kazi Toure. Former political prisoners at Running Down The Walls 2021.” The photo fades away, and the video ends with text over a blank background that reads “Register at phillyabc.org/rdtw. Deadline September 1st.”][Image one description: Headshot photo of former Angola 3 political prisoner, Albert Woodfox, wearing sunglasses at the 2021 Running Down The Walls event for Mumia Abu-Jamal.]
[Image two description: Photo of former prisoner of war, Ojore Lutalo, wearing glasses and a sleeveless shirt, standing with one leg on a picnic table bench. Next to him is a large banner with an image of two arms with handcuffs around the wrists, and text that reads “Free ’em all.”]

Proceeds go directly to on-the-ground mutual aid for Palestinians struggling in the biggest mega-prison of the modern age, and to provide monthly stipends to the 13 political prisoners supported by the ABCF Warchest program.
(2/5)
This is an accessible event―running is not required, and remote participation is welcome. Run, walk, roll, cheer or otherwise participate however and wherever. Since 2020 we’ve had remote participants from 15 states and DC, Sweden, UK, and Japan.
(3/5)
This is also the 25th anniversary of RDTW. These have been taking place inside and outside of prisons across Turtle Island (and more recently across the ocean) since 1999. That’s right―prisoner are running down the walls with us!
(4/5)
Register before the deadline (Sept. 1st) and join us on September 15th to uplift comrades behind bars, in courtrooms, and in the streets.

[Image description: Drawing of a group wearing black masks and Palestinian keffiyehs, running away from the Gaza wall. One of them is in a wheelchair, depicting that Running Down The Walls is an accessible event. They are pulling on ropes that are tied around a burning guard tower and other parts of the wall, and they are succeeding in tearing it down. Next to the falling guard tower is a giant hole in the wall with many pieces of rubble around it. There is one guard tower still intact, but with two masked people standing on top of it, one of them holding a Palestine flag. In the clouds above the wall, text reads “Free them all.” Graffiti on the wall shows the number twenty-five. Smoke to the left of the burning guard tower spells the word “years,” and to the right it spells the word “of.” On the ground in front of the wall are the words “Running Down The Walls.” Together these make the sentence “25 years of Running Down The Walls.” Artwork is by Zuka.]

Image description: Photo of running shoes next to the 2024 Philly Running Down The Walls t-shirt. The shirt features artwork by Sugarbombing, which shows a side view of three Sailor moon-like characters positioned side by side in a running motion. They are all wearing black t-shirts. The character in the middle has light colored hair while the two on the outside have dark colored hair. The closest character has the Anarchist Black Cross symbol printed on the left shoulder sleeve. The symbol is a left fist clenching a piece of broken barbed wire, and the wrist is making a cross with the letters “ABC.” The character furthest away is wearing a Palestinian keffiyeh. Text above image reads “Running Down The Walls.” Below the image is two pieces of barbed wire with text between them that reads “Anarchist Black Cross Philly 2024.”
